This Morning host Alison Hammond was left red-faced after an awkward blunder with Kylie Minogue – although she managed to turn it around with a sweet gesture.

On Friday’s instalment of This Morning, Alison Hammond experienced an embarrassing moment with pop icon Kylie Minogue. As part of a pre-taped segment for the show, the ITV presenter engaged in conversation with Kylie to discuss her upcoming album.

It was during this discussion that Alison wanted to present a heartfelt offering, as she admitted: “I was up all night and I made you a poem, are you ready?”

Frantically searching on her mobile device, Alison informed the singer that she needed to locate the poem first, hinting that things were amiss. After a short while, Alison admitted: “Oh, I’ve deleted it!”

Kylie couldn’t help but laugh, although she seemed genuinely sympathetic, responding in disbelief: “Stop it, you didn’t?!”. The flustered This Morning host confessed: “I did, I want to cry. Should’ve been in my head really.”

In a kind gesture, Kylie suggested they could craft something impromptu together. A collaborative effort saw them both create a rap in the moment, reports the Mirror.

The footage concluded with Alison receiving cheers from Dermot O’Leary, who saluted her recovery from the gaffe.

She responded: “You know what, I’d never been so nervous! Her throwing lines at me and me having to rhyme them.”

Dermot disclosed he noticed Alison’s panic when she realised her poem had vanished. Somewhat ironically, Alison revealed post-interview that she eventually found the original poem.

She told him: “Then, the worst thing was the interview finished and I actually found the poem, she really got into it, have a look.”

Cutting back to the segment, Alison Hammond was able to present her own poem to pop icon Kylie Minogue.

Reading from her phone, she recited: “Sequin stilettos and beats that don’t quit, Kylie walks in and the whole world’s lit. She’s spinning since the days of Locomotion, now she’s causing another wild pop commotion.

“From disco to diva she’s done it all. But, does Kylie ever age? No, she stands tall. With a wink and a shimmy, she conquers the stage making tension to sound like a new gold age.”

Kylie was visibly moved by the heartfelt tribute, praising Alison and giving her a resounding round of applause.

Back in the studio, Alison joked with co-host Dermot O’Leary that she should be dubbed a songwriter as he wanted to know how long it took her to create.

She confessed: “Quite a while actually! Took me all week. That’s why I couldn’t remember it, it was a nightmare.”
