Mohamed Salah is sending a wordless message to Liverpool’s owners about his future at the club. That’s according to a body language expert, who has analysed his interview about his contract situation.

Salah is in the final year of his contract at Anfield and as yet there have been no discussions over extending that deal to keep him at the club. That means he will be free to speak to foreign clubs in January and sign a pre-contract agreement with anyone in another country.

The Egyptian spoke about the contract talks – or lack thereof – following Liverpool’s comeback win against Southampton on Sunday.

He said: “Well, we are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club, [so] I’m probably more out than in.

“You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.”

Salah has become a Premier League legend in the time he has been with the Reds, securing eight spot on the all-time top scorers list. He is 17 goals short of making it into the top five.

Whether he gets to add to that total beyod this season is anyone’s guess right now. But body language expert Darren Stanton believes he wants to stay.

Stanton analysed the interview about his contracy and speaking to OLBG he said: “Salah is sending a warning shot across the bows to Liverpool’s upper management.

“He does seem genuine as a man who wants to play out the rest of his career at Liverpool. At nearly 33 he wants a new deal that reflects the longevity he can still offer in the time he has left as a professional player, but if there isn’t an offer then he is going to walk.

“That hand to mouth gesture suggests he does feel some pressure to not say too much and overplay his hand but when he touches the top of his head that is anxiety and frustration too, so if we don’t see something from Liverpool soon we could be in for some interesting times.

“I think it’s going to be interesting to watch this space because for me I think he’s probably going to announce something that people aren’t expecting.”

Liverpool are top of the Premier League by eight points, with Arsenal nine behind in fourth place. If Salah leaves it will undoubtedly be a boost to the likes of Arsenal moving forward in the Premier League title race, as he will be a massive miss.
