BBC Breakfast was back on Saturday morning with Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty at the helm, however things took an awkward turn

A BBC Breakfast host found themselves in a spot of bother after letting slip a cheeky remark they soon wished to take back.

BBC Breakfast made a return on Saturday (November 9), with Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty back at the helm, ready to dissect the day’s most pressing stories on the iconic red sofa.

In this particular episode, they invited Michelle Wright, head of care at Zoe’s Place in Liverpool, to talk about the extraordinary support the hospice provides. The charity, dedicates itself to under-fives with serious or terminal illnesses.

It was previously at risk of closing at year’s end but has thankfully received sufficient donations from companies and individuals to keep its doors open.

Joining Michelle was Amanda and her daughter Esme, who have both benefited from the charity’s support. Things got a tad uncomfortable when Charlie seemed to take a light-hearted swipe at his own programme.

When Amanda explained that her usually bubbly daughter wasn’t quite herself that morning, saying: “She’s normally very happy and smiley but I don’t think she’s feeling herself this morning so she’s very chill,” reports the Express.

Charlie couldn’t resist joking: “She won’t be the first person who has slept through an entire chunk of BBC Breakfast.” The guests shared a laugh as Naga added: “Nor the last.” Quickly realising his faux pas, Charlie retracted, conceding: “Am I allowed to say that? Oh no, I shouldn’t say that.”

Naga Munchetty experienced an unfortunate wardrobe mishap earlier this week, which didn’t go unnoticed by viewers. On Thursday (November 7), eagle-eyed fans spotted that her dress seemed slightly open while she was on air.

During a segment with campaigner Angela Frazer Wicks discussing the latter’s harrowing adoption story, Naga and co-host Charlie Stayt turned to address their guest. It was then that viewers noticed Naga’s navy buttoned dress, which had been perfectly suitable for television moments before, now sported an opening at the top.

The wardrobe blunder quickly became a talking point online, with viewers flocking to social media to highlight the issue. One viewer took to Twitter to advise: “Naga, sort your wardrobe malfunction out. It’s distracting.”
