Former NBA star Dwight Howard made a cheeky dig at Angel Reese while playing in a recent pickup basketball game.
Howard, who won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in the “Bubble” in 2020, is keeping in shape, though we aren’t aware of any immediate plans to return to the NBA following his stint overseas.
The erstwhile All-Star was recorded playing a night pickup match earlier this week and was heard calling another player “Angel Reese” after he rebounded his own misses four times before finally putting the ball in the basket.
“Yeah, Angel Reese,” Howard said with a smile.

Angel Reese’s Rebounding Prowess Has Made Her A Target
Reese has endured loads of criticism for her poor scoring form in the paint, although she is an absolute beast on the boards. She has already set a WNBA record for the most rebounds in a single season and for the most consecutive double-doubles with 15.
“It’s a mindset. She wants it,” Chicago Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon said of the rookie’s rebounding ability. “She’s not going to allow a box-out to keep her from getting an offensive rebound. She’s very physical down there. It’s a desire. She goes hard after it.
“She takes it very personally. She’s very serious about her work of getting rebounds. She knows that’s the thing she brings to this team to help us be successful, and she’s mastering that role.”
The great thing about Howard’s dig is that it could be taken as a compliment or shade, whichever way Reese wants to look at it.
The former LSU star is averaging 13.1 rebounds per game in her rookie season, though the Sky are now in a battle for the last playoff spot in the East at 11-22 while barely holding on to that eighth spot.
