Davyth Fear, from Caenarfon, was a contestant on an episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and managed to make it all the way to the £1million question
In a stunning display of knowledge, a contestant on an episode of Who Wants to be a Millionaire reached the ultimate £1million question, sparking debate among viewers over the difficulty of the final hurdle.
Davyth Fear from Caernarfon, who breezed through the initial rounds while seated in the iconic black chair, was praised by host Jeremy Clarkson for his brilliance, even joking that “I’m slightly worried this whole screen is going to move towards you because I think your genius is generating gravity.”
After securing £500,000 with a series of correct answers, Clarkson presented him with the million-pound question: “Which of these people was born the same year as Queen Elizabeth II? ” The choices were Audrey Hepburn, Judy Garland, Julie Andrews, and Marilyn Monroe.
The retired geography teacher wisely chose to take the money rather than gamble a significant sum, but fans were stunned as they knew the answer: Marilyn Monroe.
Jeremy Clarkson has been left stunned by some questions before
Fans of the show were quick to express their admiration on Twitter, with Jojo tweeting: “easy question for the £1m”, Vicki sharing her frustration at knowing the answer: “when you’re watching #whowantstobeamillionaire and [know] the million pound question and screaming it out thinking somehow he is going to magically [know] the answer with you doing so…” and Alex congratulating Davyth: “£500,000 that’s Half a Million to Davyd so not bad at all but you did really well Davyd.”
Viewers were left astounded as one contestant on “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” blitzed through the initial questions with remarkable speed, prompting a fan to comment: “Contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is flying through the first few questions like a Rocket.”
Pablo enthused: “One of the best #whowantstobeamillionaire in a while. I really liked the answer to the highest mountain. Maybe a retired Geography teacher would have guessed it, but not the heights. Wouldn’t be surprised if he has climbed them all. Well done.”, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Meanwhile, Amanda praised, “David was a clever guy”, highlighting the contestant’s performance. It is intriguing to note that Queen Elizabeth II and Marilyn Monroe shared the birth year of 1926.
