In the fight with Michael Jordan in the GOAT debate, LeBron James often sees former league greats imagining his performances in their era.
Despite all his efforts, his name still remains behind in this eternal debate.
According to the various polls conducted each year, LeBron James is still lagging behind Michael Jordan in the race for GOAT status.
A delay that can be explained both by his much less impressive track record, but also by other more subjective factors.
For example, it seems quite rare to see former stars of the league make him the best player of all time, given their privileged relationship with MJ.
Having suffered the latter’s undivided domination, they therefore struggle to consider that of the King superior from a historical point of view.
An argument often emerges in this kind of discourse, namely that of the difference of eras.
Dennis Rodman’s Strong Words About LeBron James
Despite his colossal size and a resume that speaks for itself, LeBron would not have the qualities required to withstand the physical impact that was observed in the NBA during Jordan’s era.
This is in any case what many figures of the time affirm, among them Dennis Rodman .
Dennis Rodman: The comparison doesn’t really apply. If LeBron had played in the late ’80s or early ’90s, in my day, he would have been just a regular player.
Compared to what Mike did… seriously. Michael did things with more charisma, more artistry and all that. With LeBron, it’s more… boom. There’s not really a flashiness to his game.
Beyond a supposedly more striking visual aspect in Mike’s favor, the fact that he reigned in an era as rough as Rodman’s says a lot according to the latter.
Moreover, even if The Worm bows to LBJ’s talent, he struggles to put him on a par with the Bulls’ legendary No. 23… and his most faithful sidekick:
Dennis Rodman: LeBron is a great player, don’t get me wrong. He’s a hell of a player, I’ll give him that, especially considering his size.
But to me, Scottie and Michael are one of the best duos I’ve ever seen, man. Seriously.
A very clear opinion that fans of the Chosen One will certainly have difficulty accepting.
Inevitably influenced by his former proximity to Michael Jordan and by his own career, Dennis Rodman does not see LeBron James capable of displaying the same level in the ’90s. His choice in the GOAT discussion therefore seems obvious.
