BBC Breakfast host Charlie Stayt was quick to apologise to his co-star on Thursday’s show after an awkward blunder.
During the latest instalment, Charlie, 62, was hosting the BBC One news show with co-star Naga Munchetty. However, the duo were left confused during a sports segment with fellow presenter Mike Bushell.
As Mike, 58, shared the latest sporting news from around the world, things took an awkward turn at the end of his segment. Despite finishing his reporting and saying ‘there we are’, the camera remained on him for an awkward amount of time to which Mike nodded over at his co-stars to signal he had finished reporting.
Realising the blunder, Charlie quickly exclaimed: “Sorry, Mike, I didn’t realise you’d finished there. My apologies! There was a moment there I thought you were building up the momentum.”

To which an amused Mike responded: “Well I could have done, I’m looking forward to what is coming next!” However, the camera then panned onto Mike again as he once again appeared confused to be on screen while a member of crew could also be spotted in the background behind the camera.
It comes as a fellow BBC Breakfast star was caught off guard by a blunder on the show earlier this week. Subbing in for Carol Kirkwood, weather presenter Matt Taylor was part of the morning line-up alongside hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay.
The broadcast included varied segments from frozen overseas pensions to the inspirational story of Kevin Sinfield’s 230-mile run in support of Motor Neurone Disease awareness and fundraising efforts.
In the studio, Matt swiftly got down to business, informing viewers about potential drops in temperature, indicating a nippy forecast ahead. However, he became the victim of an unfortunate technical mishap.

As Jon delved into the coming cold weather, Matt attempted to display his weather charts, only to be thwarted by a tech glitch. “We’re flip-flopping from one extreme to another at the moment but another cold one this morning, a temperature drop through the night,” he remarked, hitting the button once more in vain.
“Very good morning to you. Frost this morning, mainly across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, the far north of England though,” he launched into detailing the day’s weather expectations.
“Some of the coldest spots are indeed in Scotland and Northern Ireland right now, we’ve got temperatures right down to minus five degrees,” he continued, only to halt as the technical snag persisted. Faced with the uncooperative equipment, he confessed: “Let’s see if we can get these charts to work, it doesn’t really want to work.”
Sally alluded to the technical glitch, remarking: “I think you would have gotten away with that if we hadn’t just mentioned it,” which prompted Jon to jest: “I think it’s so cold your computer graphics have frozen. Get the de-icer out!”
Wrapping up the segment, Matt provided a brief forecast for the following day, stating: “Tomorrow morning, it will be a cold start. I’ll have full details on all of that and hopefully get the graphics to work in about half an hour.”
