Weeks after their triumphant win on Strictly Come Dancing, Dianne Buswell has expressed her emotional reaction upon reflecting on the journey she shared with celebrity dance partner Chris McCausland. The momentous occasion saw them clinch the Glitterball trophy after the grand final of the 2024 series on December 14.
Chris McCausland made history as Strictly’s first-ever blind contestant and, alongside Dianne, was crowned champion during the 20th-anniversary series that began in September. They dazzled their way past other finalists including ‘Miranda’ actress Sarah Hadland with Vito Coppola, ‘Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri with Aljaz Skorjanec, and JLS’s JB Gill with Lauren Oakley.
Post-victory, Chris described the experience as “astonishing”. As hosts Tess Daly proclaimed their victory, an emotional scene unfolded with Chris weeping and embracing Dianne, both seemingly astonished at their win, before being surrounded by the applause of their fellow stars.
While tidying her Strictly dance bag, Dianne Buswell had a nostalgic moment when she stumbled upon a KitKat, triggering memories with her former dance partner, Chris McCausland. During their time on the show, the duo delighted fans with social media updates and lighthearted challenges such as ‘guess the flavour of the KitKat’, where Chris would have Dianne taste various unusual flavours of the chocolate bar that he found.
Sharing a snapshot of the KitKat on Instagram, Dianne reflected fondly, penning, “Cleaning my Strictly dance bag out! Found a Kit Kat. Made me [face holding back tears emoji].”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
She then reached out to Chris, writing, “@chrismccauslandcomedy shall we get together soon and do another episode? “.
The stroll down memory lane comes following Dianne’s re-post of the last video they created in their Strictly journey before Christmas. However, the video began with a bit of a spat as Chris questioned why he hadn’t gotten the chocolates Dianne’s dad, Mark, had purchased for him from Belgium.

Dianne disclosed that her father had been asking if Chris liked the sweets ‘every day’, but ultimately admitted to indulging in them herself because Chris already had ‘enough’ chocolate.
Dianne swiftly changed the subject, stating: “Chris, I don’t want to get you emotional but this might be our last ‘guess the flavour of the KitKat’,” before adding: “To be honest, the flavours are getting worse every week so I’m kind of happy about it.”
However, Chris responded: “I think you’re lucky to have this and so are the people at home.”
