Good Morning Britain presenters Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley announced a major update in the world of showbiz as they revealed a new version of the Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas? is being released
In Wednesday’s (November 13) episode, the ITV morning show’s hosts dropped the bombshell that a spanking new version of Band Aid’s iconic ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ is set to drop, featuring a mash-up of voices from the original 1984 classic, as well as the 2004 and 2014 renditions.
The festive anthem is getting a megamix for its 40th birthday, bringing together the old-school and fresh-faced stars of the charity hit to craft the “ultimate” version. Brace yourselves for the ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas? – 2024 Ultimate Mix’ hitting the airwaves and streaming platforms on November 25, marking four decades since the original tune was laid down.
And for those who like it old-school, you can grab the physical copy in the Band Aid Compilation, out on November 29 on both CD and vinyl. This epic remix will feature the dulcet tones of Harry Styles, the late great George Michael, and Chris Martin, with legends like Bono belting it out alongside them, reports the Mirror.
To top it off, there’s a fresh video directed by Oliver Murray, the genius behind The Beatles’ 2023 single ‘Now And Then’, complete with David Bowie introducing the star-studded lineup and Michael Buerk’s original BBC news report on the song.
Richard and Susanna then passed the baton to showbiz editor Richard Arnold, who treated viewers at home to a clip of the iconic track. On the topic, Madeley noted: “George Michael always had mixed feelings about that because it went to number one and it kept his song, which was released that year, off number one.”

Susanna chimed in with her take: “It was such a significant event wasn’t it because it was all sparked by the remarkable reporting of Michael Buerk who was in Ethiopia just reporting what was called a biblical faming and Bob Geldof watched that and just went ‘we’ve got to do something’ and it was almost the beginning of charity singles wasn’t it? It got this super group together and raised millions.”
