Good Morning Britain was halted from it’s normal schedule after ‘breaking news’ came in, forcing the hosts to deliver some pressing news.
Just minutes into the Good Morning Britain programme, news reporter Marverine Cole shared breaking news with viewers. Presenters Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins were on duty, bringing the latest headlines to the nation on Tuesday morning, December 31.
Marverine announced live on air that Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had finally reached a settlement in their divorce, ending a long and bitter eight-year legal battle. She stated: “Some breaking news.
“Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally reached a settlement in their divorce, ending a bitter eight-year legal battle. Angelina had filed for divorce all the way back in September 2016 just two years have the A-listers tied the knot, citing irreconcilable differences at the time.”
Marverine continued: “No court documents have been filed yet. The couple who became known as ‘Brangelina’ dated for 10 years before they decided to get married.”
Angelina and Brad, who met on the set of the 2005 film Mr and Mrs Smith, got married in 2014 and have six children together. This was Brad’s second marriage, having previously wed Friends star Jennifer Aniston, and Angelina’s third, after actors Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.
Angelina has starred in notable films such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Changeling, and Girl, Interrupted, while Brad’s filmography includes Fight Club, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Twelve Monkeys, reports the Mirror.
Marverine, the GMB presenter, has been at the forefront of breaking news this week. On Monday’s episode (December 30), she reported the heartbreaking news of three foreign tourists losing their lives in a horrific fire at a backpacker hotel in Bangkok.
One unfortunate traveller was declared dead at the scene, while two others tragically passed away after being rushed to hospital. Thai media reports suggest that the trio, including one woman, were overcome by smoke inhalation before they tragically lost their lives.
