GMB’s Susanna Reid DEFENDS I’m A Celeb’s Dean McCullough after DRAMATIC TRIAL EXIT

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has rushed to defend radio star Dean McCullough after he quit the latest Bushtucker Trial on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

During Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain, hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley delved into the latest jungle drama from I’m A Celebrity.

Chatting with entertainment correspondent Richard Arnold, they quickly shifted focus to the recent Bushtucker Trial, where radio personality Dean McCullough famously cried out ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’.

Facing failure during Tuesday’s trial, he sparked controversy, with accusations of dramatising his discomfort among fans, reports the Mirror.

Yet Susanna leapt to his defense as she argued: “I have to defend Dean here. I don’t know him and have never met him, but he had the helmet on, which then got filled with bugs. Then he managed to do the two stars, you collect the stars using your mouth and then you poke it through the little letter box hole. Then the sand came in, this is sand.”

Reid continued her impassioned defense, saying, “You know what it’s like when you get trapped in sand and the sand is continually rising up his legs. Even as I say that I start feeling a little bit panicky!”

She explained the horror: “He knows that at some point it’s going to rise over his arms and his entire body is going to be trapped in sand. He’s not going to be able to move, basically almost had a panic attack didn’t he?”

Madeley lightened the mood by quipping that Susanna should take up the mantle of camp psychotherapist in the jungle.

To which, Susanna humorously responded: “Well, I’m willing to go out there is anyone wants to employ me to talk them down!”

Despite Dean’s attempt at the trial falling short, he did manage to garner two stars for the camp, bringing back a modest feast for dinner.

Ant and Dec showed support for Dean as he emerged from the Sarcophagus on I’m A Celebrity, but during the aftershow they revealed some disappointment that the trial concluded prematurely.

On the Unpacked episode featuring Joel Dommett, Sam Thompson and Kemi Rodgers, Dec disclosed: ‘We are genuinely disappointed because you are prepared to do the whole trial and you want to see the whole thing. There’s a lot of time gone into the trials so when it’s called early you’re like, “oh””.

Ant echoed his sentiment, stating: “That’s why we continued to ask him some questions after because we were really enjoying it.”

Yet, redemption could be on the horizon for Dean since he’s been selected to embark on the next Bushtucker Trial with co-star GK Barry.

GK, better known outside the jungle as Grace Keeling, faced her fears in the inaugural challenge of this series after being elected by the audience on Monday night, succeeding in securing nine stars for the campmates.

Having made her jungle debut, she’s charmed viewers, quickly emerging as a favourite, with some already tipping the 25 year old Loose Women panellist for triumph in the adventure.
