Good Morning Britain viewers ripped into ‘hypocritical’ Susanna Reid on Monday after she grilled Rachel Reeves about her clothes.
During the programme, the host, 53, and her co-star Richard Madeley, 68, were discussing the Labour party‘s donation row.
Ministers have been struggling to defend Sir Keir Starmer from criticism for taking over £100,000 worth of gifts and hospitality in the past five years.
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel, has received thousands of pounds in funding for clothes that was previously declared as generic office support.
Weighing in on the debate, Susanna said: ‘It smacks of hypocrisy because the Labour party pointed the finger at the Tories and said we will be different.’

Sharing their thoughts on X, one person replied: ‘Smacks of hypocrisy Susanna asking how much Rachel Reeves earns. If you live in glass houses you shouldn’t throw stones.’
Viewers added: ‘All MPS receive freebies just as Susanna and Richard will receive freebies because of who they are! It’s part of the job! It doesn’t bother me! What bothers me is them constantly talking about it and not concentrating on important matters in where this country is heading!’;
‘So let me get this right …. The Chancellor of the country gets £120k …. Susanna gets £1.2 million …. Don’t think she should be conducting interviews on salaries do you ????’;
‘Susanna and Richard, are you not now wearing clothes that are not your own? And isn’t this because you are in public eye on a regular basis? Would you be to afford to buy these clothes so that you can present your best self to the nation? Please find something else to talk about’;
‘Susanna Reid gets paid just under 10x the salary of Rachel reeves and other cabinet ministers. I can guarantee she doesn’t pay for her clothes!’; ‘Do you not receive free clothes Susanna? I very much suspect you do despite your million pound salary’; ‘Susanna do you get free clothes as you wear something different every day?’
Last week, a veteran Good Morning Britain host returned to screens.
After more than two weeks away from the show, Richard was back in his usual seat behind the ITV news desk for Monday’s instalment alongside Susanna.
His absence did not go unnoticed, as show fans feared that he had gone off-air permanently due to health woes.

Richard had taken ill on August, 20, and has seldom hosted the show since – Ed Balls was the show’s fallback for the star’s absence.
The host’s return delighted fans, who flocked to social media to share their joy over his comeback.
One penned on X: ‘Wahoo it’s Monday, it’s Madeley, it’s manic Madeley Monday morning time.’
‘Madeley hyper this morning.’
‘Madeley gets a lot of s**t but he’s still better than Ed Balls.’
And it was a busy day for the host’s return, as he conducted an interview with Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey amid the party’s conference in Brighton.
He also discussed the second potential assassination attempt on US Presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Richard left fans worried that his temporary departure was permanent. He unexpectedly took leave last month because he was feeling ‘poorly’.
As the daytime programme kicked off, Kate Garraway, 57, addressed her co-host’s absence with Sean Fletcher, 50, admitting he didn’t realise he was fronting the ITV show.
She said: ‘Good morning! Now, if you were expecting to see Richard Madeley here, I think Richard Madeley was expecting to be here as well! He’s feeling a bit poorly this morning, so we’ve got lovely Sean, which is fantastic.’
Kate questioned when Sean found out he was going to be stepping in for Richard and the presenter confessed it was all very last minute.

He replied: ‘So we wish Richard all the best, I get up in the morning and I log into the running order at home. I see my initial by all the stories that you would already have. Then I saw my initial on every other story. I thought there’s a mistake, there’s a typo!’
However, after looking at the running order again, it was clear to him that he would be fronting the show alongside Kate.
Sean added: ‘Suddenly I realised, I had seven missed calls and I realised that something was up.’
Although his appearance was last minute, Sean admitted it felt good to be hosting the show and joked that it feels as though he’s off the news bench and on the pitch.
