Good Morning Britain viewers spotted tension as Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley hosted the latest instalment of the ITV programme.

Good Morning Britain viewers speculated that tension could be brewing between two presenters.

Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway hosted the ITV programme for the second time this week, sharing the latest headlines with viewers on Tuesday (December 17).

But during the show, fans picked up on Kate’s “irritable” behaviour towards Richard, with many claiming she isn’t too fond of her co-star.

Sharing their thoughts on social media, one wrote: “Kate really does get irritated by Richard. So obvious #GMB.”

A second agreed: “@GMB I really like @richardm56 on @GMB, not sure Kate likes him , she constantly interrupts, it’s very annoying Kate!”

Others pointed out how Kate regularly interrupts her co-star, with one saying: “How many times can Kate cut Richard off in mid sentence? He starts to speak, she interrupts him.”

Another declared: “Kate Garraway interruption count 6268.”

However, a further viewer spotted Richard’s “calmness” around his co-star, adding: “Well done Richard on remaining calm when Kate talked over him a couple of times there.”

Seeing the positive side, someone else said: “Richard has a calming influence on Kate, it’s lovely.”

It comes after Kate replaced Susanna Reid on GMB following her announcement that she will be taking a break over the festive period. Last week, the 54-year-old revealed it would be her “last show” until Christmas Day, when she will host with Ed Balls.

The news came as Susanna touched upon GMB’s 1 Million Minutes campaign, which aims to tackle loneliness.

Sitting next to Richard, Susanna shared: “Ending on a positive note, our amazing 1 Million Minutes campaign – I just want to say thank you to everybody who has pledged their minutes to the campaign.

“We have a special programme on Christmas Day but this is my last chance to say thank you to you before Christmas because it is my last programme before Christmas Day.”

Signing off, she added: “Good Morning Britain back tomorrow from 6am. Have a happy Christmas from me, I’ll see you on Christmas Day.”

Viewers were less than pleased with Susanna’s absence on Monday as one fumed: “Not coming up on GMB, Susanna Reid. Paid a salary of £1,100,000 to host this dross three mornings a week. But not for the next three weeks obviously.”

Another complained: “Susanna worked on Sunday’s show yesterday and now has to take 3 weeks off!”

Echoing this, a third wrote on X: “Susanna on her Christmas break already.”
