Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley were back on our screens on Wednesday to host the latest edition of ITV’s This Morning and the presenters had some ‘exciting news’ to share
Ben Shephard brought Wednesday’s This Morning to a standstill with an ‘exciting news’ announcement.
In the middle of discussions about current events with co-host Cat Deeley and guests, Ben, 50, interjected: “We’ve got some exciting news to share, Cat!” to which Cat, 48, responded with a puzzled: “Do we?”
Ben then triumphantly revealed: “Look at this, we have won an award!” brandishing an I Talk Telly trophy for best daytime show.
He joyfully declared: “The best news is that it’s voted for by all of you at home, so thank you so much for that!” as Cat chimed in with gratitude: “We just want to say a massive thank you, didn’t we? And thanks for watching and thanks for voting! It’s brilliant!”
Ben continued with enthusiasm: “We’ve loved being a part of this show, we certainly enjoy ourselves daily, don’t we? The fact that you guys wanted to vote for this so we’d win this award, it makes it even more special so thank you!”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Ben Shephard halted Wednesday’s episode of This Morning to share some ‘exciting news’ live on air
In another segment of Wednesday’s programme, Ben was caught off guard when a celebrity guest seemingly dropped a Strictly Come Dancing secret.
As the episode commenced, celebrating Ben’s 50th birthday, he was showered with heartfelt tributes from celebrity friends and colleagues.
Yet, amid the festivities, Chris McCausland, a Strictly Come Dancing finalist, seemed to inadvertently reveal a behind-the-scenes tidbit.
Elsewhere on Wednesday’s show, Ben was left stunned as one star appeared to let slip a Strictly Come Dancing detail The 47-year-old comedian playfully remarked: “I am sending you this message from my dressing room here at Strictly studios, a dressing room that I am told could be yours next year if you’d like it. Remember, 50, not too old… the contract’s ready!” leaving Ben visibly taken aback before breaking into a smile.
In addition, a delightful video compilation featured well-wishes from Ben’s ex-Good Morning Britain colleague Kate Garraway, as well as This Morning’s own Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to wish their own birthday wishes to Ben as one person said: “#ThisMorning Happy birthday Ben!!”, a different account wrote: “Happy birthday Ben #thismorning”, another put: “Happy 50th birthday Ben #ThisMorning” while a different viewer added: “Happy 50th birthday Ben #thismorning.”
