Kate Garraway has shared a heartbreaking update as she sent her daughter Darcey to university, admitting that the house is far too quiet without her.
Kate Garraway has been seen holding back tears as she helped her daughter Darcey set off for university, sharing the heartfelt message: “Your dad is with you.”
The ITV Good Morning Britain presenter and former I’m A Celebrity contestant opened up about the difficulties of coping since her husband Derek Draper passed away in January, reports Birmingham Live.
The family photo was placed in the car just days after Kate, along with her daughter Darcey and son Billy, received an accolade at the National Television Awards. Derek tragically lost his life after enduring severe complications from Covid, following a courageous four-year fight.

Taking to Instagram, Kate penned: “And just like that she was off! That tiny helpless baby we brought home from the hospital 18 yrs ago has gone to Uni! Just like thousands of other parents this weekend I was playing that game of student Jenga trying to get it all in the car.
“Thank goodness my beloved Victor Volvo has a massive boot! Such an emotional moment on so many levels and boy is the house quiet. But Darcey we couldn’t be prouder of you starting this new chapter of your life and know your Dad is with you all the way.”
A fan replied: “Good luck Darcy. My daughter’s second year at uni but she’s living there this year, she’s only 20 minutes away but I’m still gutted she’s gone x.”

A second shared their amusement: “Good luck and it does take time to adjust at home when they have fled to Uni. I didn’t see the (what seemed to be) the obligatory 24 toilet rolls and Argos clothes airer/dryer.”
Wishes of luck poured in for Darcey and her family, with one person commenting: “All the best to Darcey and you all! Bet you’re so proud,” while another chimed in on the moving process: “Chaos and kerfuffle – I know it well, doesn’t it seem to work so good though?”
