The pair had danced their Couples’ Choice and included a brief black-out in their routine to symbolise Chris’s blindness.
Once they had completed their dance, comedian Chris scooped Dianne into his arms and they hugged on the ballroom floor.
The Australian pro could then be heard telling him: “I’m so proud of you.”
Fans were left feeling emotional after watching Chris and Dianne’s performance and flocked to X to share their thoughts.
One said: “Chris and Dianne amaze me every week. The blackout really hit home for me too. It’s phenomenal that Chris is learning and dancing steps and lifts that are difficult enough even when you’re fully sighted.”
Another added: “I’ll never not be impressed by this lad – Chris McCausland is a phenomenon…Dianne is a genius & the blackout…wow really hits home he has no frame of reference for any of these dances.”
And someone wrote: “The turning off of lights in Chris and Dianne’s dance to represent what the world is like to him, such an incredible performance.”
Before taking to the dance floor, Chris – who has the hereditary eye condition Retinitis Pigmentosa – talked in a video about his experience of taking part in Strictly.
He said: “You’ve got to do things, haven’t you? If there’s something that’s scary, what is the worst that can happen?
“I came into this thinking it could be a bit of a disaster. But here we are.
“If I’m honest, I’m surprising myself as well as everybody else.”
Opening up about his blindness, Chis continued: “When I was born, my eyesight was maybe perfect but it deteriorated very, very, very steadily until probably late teens, early 20s when all the useful stuff just went.
“It’s just everybody’s own experience but mine was denial, frustration, you pretend you can see and you try and blunder through.
“It actually becomes easier when you can’t see anything because for the first time you’ve got this plato and just this consistency.
“It’s sad, it was just the way it was.”
Chris admitted he had previously turned down Strictly Come Dancing several times as he was too “scared” to take part.
He said he changed his mind after deciding to show the nation what people with disabilities can achieve.
“I think it’s important to show people more is possible than you think,” Chris added.
