Strictly’s blind contestant Chris McCausland FURI0USLY REIGNITES feud with Lord Alan Sugar after The Apprentice star accused show of using ‘C0NTESTANT GIMMICKS’

Chris McCausland has reunited his feud with Lord Alan Sugar after his controversial tweets earlier this month.

The comedian, 47, hit back at The Apprentice boss once again after he took to Twitter two weeks ago to share his scathing opinion of the BBC dance show and its ‘gimmicks’.

While Lord Sugar suggested that he wasn’t talking about the show featuring a blind man, Chris hit back once again in an interview with The Times, and asked: ‘But what was he on about? I can’t imagine. ‘

He added: ‘Some people are in a position where they should know to keep things inside their heads. We all have these thoughts from time to time, don’t we, but we can just keep them to ourselves.

Lord Sugar’s original tweet read: ‘I don’t know when Strictly Come dancing are going to run out of contestant gimmicks. I would not be surprised if they had a AI mechanical robot next year. @bbcstrictly’.

While Lord Sugar suggested he wasn’t talking about the show featuring a blind man, Chris hit back once again as he asked: ‘But what was he on about? I can’t imagine’

Responding amongst the flurry of comments, Chris responded: ‘I am sorry my gimmick offends you oh mighty Lord,’ adding a play on Sugar’s famous Apprentice catchphrase with the hashtag ‘#YoureTired’.

The Royal National Institute of Blind people also hit back at the business tycoon’s comments as they wrote: ‘Hi @Lord_Sugar, I’m a blind person. I can’t believe I’m having to say this, but disabilities aren’t gimmicks.

‘Having disability representation on @BBCStrictly makes people like me feel seen. It shows what we can do, not what we can’t do. There’s nothing gimmicky about that.’

Lord Sugar then replied: ‘Why are you assuming I am referring to disabled people. You make me sick.’

Speaking elsewhere in the Times interview about being an inspirational figure for the disabled community, Chris added: ‘If you’ve got a disability you have to show so much perseverance and creativity and problem-solving just day to day.

‘There are so many people out there capable of way more than the opportunities they are given. For me it’s about representing that community.’

Chris is a firm favourite among fans and with bookies had him as the 9/4 frontrunner to win the series last week.

Despite coming bottom of the leaderboard with their Zombie themed Samba on Saturday night, Chris and Dianne Buswell were straight through to next week during the results show.

He added: 'Some people are in a position where they should know to keep things inside their heads. We all have these thoughts from time to time, don't we, but we can just keep them to ourselves'
