The BBC has confirmed the start date for the highly anticipated Motherland spin-off, Amandaland, and fans don’t have long to wait.
The six-episode series, which stars Lucy Punch and Joanna Lumley, will officially premiere on BBC One at 9pm on Wednesday, February 5.
Co-created by Sharon Horgan, Holly Walsh and Helen Serafinowicz, Amandaland will pick up following the end of fan-favourite sitcom Motherland, which finished its three season run in 2022.
Following her messy divorce, Amanda (Punch) has had to downsize and move to South Harlesden. With both her children at secondary school, Amanda has to adjust to raising troublesome teenagers on her own.

Amanda’s mum Felicity (Lumley) is spending a lot more time with her daughter, and is unable to admit that she is, in fact, lonely. Their unhealthy co-dependent relationship is based on backhanded compliments and judgemental comments about Amanda’s new home.
Motherland favourite Anne (Philippa Dunne) is also back as Amanda’s minion, who helps her navigate the social scene with the other parents at the children’s new school. How will they cope?
Amandaland’s cast also includes Gavin & Stacey’s Samuel Anderson, Derry Girls star Siobhan McSweeney, Line of Duty’s Rochenda Sandall, Trying’s Ekow Quartey and The Gentlemen’s Peter Serafinowicz.
“We can’t wait for audiences to see Amanda’s new chapter, brought to life by such a talented cast and a wonderfully sharp set of characters. It’s going to be a real treat,” said the BBC’s Head of Comedy, Tanya Qureshi.

The show’s co-creator Sharon Horgan added: “I was genuinely sad having to say goodbye to Motherland. There’s such a fondness for that show and those characters. So, it was a real thrill to get to pick up the further adventures of Amanda and Anne, not to mention Felicity.
“Lucy, Phillipa and Joanna are top of their game in these roles and are joined by an incredibly funny and talented new cast. Can’t wait to showcase the next challenges of parenthood and the very particular kind of friendship the school gates bring.”
Ahead of the show’s premiere next month, fans have recently taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share their excitement, with one writing: “This is going to be such a hit.”
“Motherland was excellent, looking forward to this!” another added, while a third said: “I cannot wait for Amandaland to start 5th Feb! Lucy Punch has deserved her own show for so long!!”
