Gladiators: Bradley Walsh hit in the face with a shoe
Bradley Walsh and his son Barney returned to present the latest series of Gladiators on Saturday night (January 18), where the athletes and amateur contenders joined them.
The BBC show was almost thrown into chaos by the halfway mark when the father-son duo announced that the show’s contestants would now face “The Wall,” a climbing and abseiling wall where the contenders have to race to the top before a gladiator can catch them.
Barney said: “Ok, now it’s time for ‘The Wall.’ Be warned. Last series a lot of people’s shoes came off during this event but I’m sure it will be fine this time around.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure, Barnes,” Bradley bellowed as he put his hand out to catch something.
A colleague behind the camera threw a trainer towards the 64-year-old presenter, and it hit him in the face, much to everyone’s shock in the live audience.

Fortunately, the BBC host laughed off the incident as Bradley chuckled: “I was supposed to catch that in my hand, you maniac.”
As he rubbed his eye, he commented, “That didn’t happen in rehearsal.”
He bent down to pick up the trainer, as he reiterated, “you were supposed to throw it at my hand!”
Fans flocked to comment to social media as one X user penned: “Hope Brad is ok.” Another commented: “The Wall is back! And that shoe getting thrown at Bradley made me laugh. How many shoes are we losing?”
“Throwing a shoe in Bradley’s face,” a third chuckled. Another mused: “Call a medic.”
A fifth added: “Bradley Walsh got hit in the face with a trainer #Gladiators.”

However, the problems didn’t stop there during the show as one of the contenders suffered a painful injury right after taking part on “The Wall”.
The contenders are given one minute to climb 30ft but receive zero points if a gladiator removes them.
Up next was Nathan and Scott who were being chased down by Legend and Viper but both were caught by the gladiators.
As Scott was taken to one side by the production staff, Bradley mused, “Oh no. I think something has happened here. He’s [Scott] hurt himself here. It looks like a dislocation.”
