BBC Strictly Come Dancing star, Dr Punam Krishan, has revealed why she won’t be taking part in the show’s upcoming live tour
Dr Punam Krishan made history during her time on Strictly Come Dancing 2024.
The BBC Morning Live star, 41, was paired with professional dancer Gorka Márquez and their performance to Bhole Chudiye from the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham marked the first time a contestant had performed a traditional Bollywood dance on the show.
Following the incredible milestone, Dr Punam, who was the fifth celebrity to leave the show, has revealed she won’t be taking part in the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing Live! tour.

She added: “I’m such a homebird as well, I just about managed to do the weekends when we were down in London and I’d be back [home] on the Sunday. I love going to watch the tour, it’s so much fun!”
Talking about her time on Strictly Come Dancing, Dr Punam said: “It’s been hands down one of the most amazing and phenomenal experiences of my life.
“I think the one thing that my job very much teaches me is that now is the only moment you’ve got and time is finite.
“My job gives me that sense of insight and perspective so when an opportunity like Strictly comes along you’re like once in a lifetime for sure and this has been such an exciting chapter and I can’t wait to tell my grandkids about it one day!”
The doctor humorously added: “From the sparkles and the sequins to the scrub life, it’s quite a transition!”
Dr Punam has joined forces with Gas Safe Register
Dr Punam has joined forces with Gas Safe Register to raise awareness of the differences between carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning and colds which can often be mistaken.
Brits are being urged to ‘Check Your CO-ld’ as it’s revealed only a quarter (27%) recognise overlapping symptoms such as headaches, shortness of breath and fatigue as potential signs of CO exposure.
Dr Punam said of the campaign: “As a doctor for nearly 20 years, every year we have patients who present with carbon monoxide poisoning and really in this day and age everyone should be aware of what the signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are.”
She added: “Something that really alarmed me, we tend to see a lot of older people that are more vulnerable, that tend to be affected by carbon monoxide poisoning.
“Actually what the research showed, it’s actually more prevalent in younger people that they don’t know how to recognise the symptoms, how to prevent and many wouldn’t even have carbon monoxide alarms in their homes.”
