EXCLUSIVE: Macy Gray stunned viewers on Saturday night when she stormed off The Masked Singer after being voted off.

In a surprising turn of events during the latest episode of hit show The Masked Singer, American singer Macy Gray competed against a lineup of unique characters, including Bear, Wolf, Pufferfish, and Bush.

Despite her best efforts to impress the audience and judges, she was ultimately voted off, prompting her to remove her elaborate costume head and reveal her true identity.

As tensions ran high, host Joel Dommett delivered the unfortunate news of her elimination, leaving the audience in shock. In a dramatic moment, the singer walked off the stage, visibly upset by the announcement.

Analysing her body language, expert Judi James told Express.co.uk: “Macy looked genuinely upset and who can blame her? It was like watching Nureyev get voted out first on Strictly or Einstein having to call friends and family during the first round on Who Want to be a Millionaire.

“She performed a mirthless smile as the judges tried to flatter her via a series of verbal strokes and at one point she did look as though she might have been crying.

“Her only route out of the grim situation would have been some overkill, carefree-looking laughter and an expression of gratitude which might have implied that, as was with Dionne, she’d only popped over to do one show before another hugely important career commitment.”

Macy eventually made an unexpected return to the stage, where she was unmasked and identified as none other than American singer Macy. Her expression was unmistakably disappointed as she appeared far from pleased with her early exit from the competition.

According to sources close to her, Macy was ultimately “blindsided” by her elimination, especially considering her recent success in the US version of the show, where she reached the final while competing as the Sea Queen in 2023.

On that occasion, she became visibly upset and sulked after being voted off, showcasing a pattern of unpredictable behaviour.
