Good Morning Britain saw host Susanna Reid skewer deputy prime minister Angela Rayner over Donald Trump’s decision to halt US military aid to Ukraine after his fiery clash with Zelensky.

Rayner appeared via video link on the ITV morning show, where she was asked whether she was “blindsided” by the overnight news. Rayner, however, refused to comment on “ongoing dialogues” prime minister Keir Starmer is having with the US president.

Instead, she continuously repeated the phrase “honest broker” in regards to the PM, insisting the UK is focused on achieving peace for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. She said: “We won’t be blindsided or bounced from the focus of getting peace for Ukraine with those security guarantees.

“The prime minister also set out where we’ve stepped up with regards to our military aid – missiles, the seizing of Russian assets and using that money towards support for Ukraine, the £3billion a year we continue to give Ukraine for support. The prime minister wants to be an honest broker working with the US and European allies to bring about that peace.”
