Despite rave reviews from viewers and critics alike, the BBC has dropped the hit drama Boiling Point.

The four-part series followed the 2021 film of the same name and picked up eight months after the movie’s cliffhanger ending that left fans on the edges of their seats.

The jaw-dropping ending saw irate chef Andy Jones – played by Stephen Graham – collapse from a heart attack. But despite its glowing review, the Sun claims the BBC have no plans to bring it back for a second series.

A source told the outlet: “It’s not often a drama gets such love from viewers and critics but Boiling Point was such a rarity the team has been left disappointed that there’s no news on a second series.

GMB: Richard Madeley speaks about being hit as a child

“The fact is there’s still an appetite for more, it’s just making that happen. Boiling Point is on the shelf, so to speak, but if the right story or idea comes along then there’s every change it could be back on screens one day.”

The series hit the airwaves back in October 2023 and landed a perfect score on the hugely popular ratings site Rotten Tomatoes. Although the show isn’t filmed in a single shot like the original film, the Boiling Point TV show still brings all the drama.

It followed Andy, as he tried to find his place in the world without running a restaurant, and Carly, played by Vinette Robinson, who took over the reins at Jones & Sons.

It also featured new chef Johnny (played by Stephen Odubola) and kitchen porters Jake (Daniel Larkai) and Holly (Hannah Traylen).

The run ended with Carly taking on a wedding booking to try and boost the restaurants finances – so there was plenty of scope for a second series.

It comes after actress Vinette Robinson admitted that filming the show helped to improve some of her kitchen skills after wrapping the show.

Speaking to The Guardian last year, she admitted: “I still try to chop the way that we were taught, albeit slower. Sometimes when dinner’s ready, I’ll shout, ‘Service!’, much to my familu’s annoyance.”

She went on to reveal one of the ways she gets into character when she was trying to learn her lines on the BBC set. She told the publication: “I had a playlist for Carly in Boiling Point with lots of Cypress Hill and Nirvana.

“I didn’t make one for Natalie because I don’t imagine she’s into music or culturaly in touch. She’s definitely a ready-made Spotify playlist type of woman.”
