Jimmy Savile’s former lair in Glen Coe, Scotland, has gone up in flames with emergency services rushing to the scene.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue service were called out to the address just after 5:30pm on Saturday (February 8).

A spokesperson told The Sun: “We were called at 17:36 and have three pumps in attendance.”

Police, meanwhile, locked down the road and have urged people to avoid the area – though people are currenly in attendance filming the blaze as it tears through the house.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The A82 is closed in both directions between Tyndrum and Ballachulish Bridge following a report of a fire at a property around 5.40pm on Saturday, 8 February, 2025.

“Emergency services are in attendance and drivers are asked to avoid the area.”

The paedophile’s former cottage, Allt-na-Reigh, has drawn thousands of tourists over the years who want a glimpse of the morbid location – and its doors and windows are mainly smashed or torn off, so anyone can enter.

The interior is full of debris from walls and roofing, as well as broken glass, making it a real risk to health and safety.

Monster Jim owned the cottage from 1998 until he died in 2011. Afterwards, it was purchased by Harris Aslam, who intends to knock it down and build a three-bedroom villa where it once stood.

But in November 2024, proposals for the upgrade received hundreds of complaints from local residents, and were withdrawn.

The redevelopment intends to honour one of the home’s former owners, climber and inventor Dr Hamish MacInnes who invented ice axes and a stretcher now used by mountain rescue teams.

It is one of only six houses along a 10-mile stretch of the A82 through Glen Coe.
