GB News host and guest clash over gender identity

GB News presenter Martin Daubney got into a heated debate with former Labour spokesman James Matthewson.

The pair clashed over politicians Donald Trump and Nigel Farage, who Matthewson branded “far righ

As Matthewson claimed that Reform and Republican politicians put out simple solutions for complex issues and are blaming multiculturalism for different issues, saying the “extremes win out” as people “look for a scapegoat”.

Daubney cut in and said: “James, James, you’re doing that thing that they always do on the left. You’re trying to make out that the party is racist or divisive, you’re trying to say that Reform are toxic on multiculturalism.

“They’re saying the same about Donald Trump. People voted for Donald Trump, the polling is saying that whatever you’re saying about your own personal opinions of Nigel Farage and reform, it’s not affecting the electorate.

“They seem to want something different, and they’re not getting the economic good news they want right now from Labour Party, and call them racist what we like,” as he added a brual “It’s not landing.”

Matthewson replied: “They want better news and they want a different direction. It doesn’t stop the truth from being the case though, Martin. I mean in America, look at what we’ve seen.

He then said that Labour “need to get their act together to put forward an alternative vision” to win people back as Daubney responded: “On that we can agree, and I think a good starting point would be to stop calling everybody you disagree with far right.”

“That is why the red ball is going turquoise, because people are sick of being called far right just for holding perfectly normal mainstream opinions, and that’s what’s happening,” as Matthewson replied: “I’m not calling people in the red wall far right at all, and calling people who are politicians who are far right who say far right things.”

“But if you despise multiculturalism, if your main direction right now politically in the world that we live in is trans people, gay people, their rights, the rights of women…”

Daubney cut in as he raged: “It’s taking too much oxygen out of the room, it’s a tiny percentile of the of the population. People care about food on the table, they care about border control.”

Matthewson scoffed: “Oh great, so what we’re happy to allow a tax on people because they’re a small minority but you can have better prices of eggs if trans people get persecuted.”

Daubney hit back: “It’s absolutely not persecuted, they’re just not allowed to go into women’s changing rooms, plays sport.”

As Matthewson tried to make a point about transgender ideology, Daubney cut in and responded: “James, we got off on a good footing and we shall part friends. I’m being told we have to move on.”
