The Chase’s Bradley Walsh stops show after contestant’s admission

The Chase host cut the game short after hearing what one contestant did for a living

In an amusing turn on The Chase, host Bradley Walsh almost brought one contestant’s game to a premature end. Manchester resident Rumun surprised the host with his job revelation, prompting a hilarious reaction from Bradley.

Tonight’s episode of the beloved ITV quiz show saw four eager beavers, Sally, Rumun, Sharron, and Taven, stepping up to challenge The Chaser.

With a warm welcome from TV’s Bradley Walsh, contestants readied themselves for the intellectual battle. However, after Taven and Sharron bowed out, it was Rumun’s spotlight moment against Shaun Wallace, a.k.a. The Dark Destroyer.

But the situation turned comical when Rumun, a youthful 23-year old, declared: “I’m a tax advisor Brad” leading Bradley to quip: “And for you The Chase is over.”

Caught off guard by the contestant’s profession, the ITV stalwart quickly recovered saying, “Right you’re back in the game,” reports Liverpool Echo.

Besides grappling with a surprising career choice, Walsh also raised an eyebrow at Rumun’s affection for “Derby County” football club.

The jovial interaction between the host and Rumun even drew Shaun Wallace into the banter as he remarked: “Well you’re a tax advisor and a County fan, you do a lot of accounting for losses then.”

Despite that good-natured ribbing, Rumun, taking the jest in stride and replying “Good one”, couldn’t outpace his earlier rivals’ exits and was subsequently knocked out. This left Sally to go toe-to-toe with The Dark Destroyer alone.

After being tempted by a whopping £100,000 offer, Sally chose the middle option, pocketing £4,000 on ITV’s hit show The Chase. However, despite her best efforts, Sally couldn’t outsmart

‘The Dark Destroyer’ Shaun Wallace, who easily caught up with her modest score of nine with a full minute remaining on the clock.

The episode proved to be a treat for viewers, but their enjoyment was tempered by a creeping sense of déjà vu—many suspected they were watching a “repeat.”

The previous evening saw Chase fans encounter similar confusion, anticipating new quizzing action but faced with what turned out to be a rehashed offering. Confirmed by quick-to-notice viewers as a repeat rather than ‘new’ as advertised in TV guides, disappointment bubbled over onto social media.

A viewer voiced frustration on X saying: “Get your act together ITV, this episode was only aired about a week ago ffs….. #thechase” and another lamented: “NEW #TheChase Don’t think so. This is a repeat! @ITV garbage.”

Discontent spread among The Chase aficionados, with yet another commenting: “Just turned on…probably already been noted, but this ‘new’ The Chase, is definitely a repeat #thechase,” Similarly, someone else pointed out: “This episode of #TheChase says New, yet it was on so recently I knew what the contestant was going to say before he said it. #repeat.”
