Soap fans were left open-mouthed after it appeared bosses had killed off four characters on New Year’s Day.
Denise was left fighting for her life after being hit over the head with a glass bottle by Nish when she rumbled him for faking his death.
But at Eve and Suki’s wedding reception the evil villain poisoned Eve’s glass of champagne as the newlyweds celebrated.
The episode ended as Nish and Suki came crashing to the ground after he wrapped his hand around her gown before Ravi pushed him off the balcony.
As the emergency services are called, Harvey can be seen checking Nish’s pulse, before he reveals the twisted businessman is dead.
In a relief to fans, Denise survived her ordeal as Jack Branning explains to her what happened while she recovers in hospital.
Later in the episode, as Nugget and his mother Priya clean up Nish’s basement hideout to keep his involvement under wraps, Eve wakes up in hospital.
She’s reduced to tears as she struggles to comprehend what’s happened, while Stacey comforts her, explaining what Nish had done.
She said: “It’s Nish, he poisoned you.”
Hysterical, Eve dashed to Suki’s bedside as she found her wife lying unconscious on oxygen.
“I’m here, you’re not on your own,” Eve told her.
As Suki opened her eyes, Eve told her: “We’re free of him now, do you understand me? He’s dead, he can never hurt us again.”
Finding the words to speak, Suki replied: “We win.”
The episode ended as Nish’s remains were placed into a body bag, marking the end of his reign of terror over his family and the Walford community.
However, many viewers noticed that the EastEnders Julia theme tune was cut off at the end of the episode, leaving them ‘livid’.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one said: “Why are they silencing Julia’s Theme here when it’s their intellectual property #EastEnders”
Another added: “How dare you take away Julia’s theme from this clip … absolutely livid!”
A third penned: “Where has the Julia’s theme gone? Ruins the whole clip!”
A fourth wrote: “The most beautiful final scene and Julia’s theme to close the episode for this phenomenal couple.”
