This Morning presenter Alison Hammond has opened up about her relationship with boyfriend David Putman after being trolled over their 22-year age gap.

Alison Hammond has hit out at backlash against claims her younger boyfriend is a “toyboy”.

The This Morning host, 49, is in a relationship with masseuse David Putman, 27, who was born and raised in Russia. The couple first met when Alison became a client of his last year, and it didn’t take long before their friendship blossomed into a romance.

They confirmed their relationship last year when Alison also revealed that her son Aiden, 19, approved of their romance and thought that David was “lovely”. Now, the raven-haired beauty has spoken out about their age difference and insisted that they “fit like a jigsaw.”

She told outlets: “I can see how, on paper, you’d notice the age difference. But honestly, when we see the word ‘toyboy’ written about us, it bears no relation to what we have at all.

“Yes I’m 22 years older than he is, but if you saw us together, you’d understand.” Alison added to Good Housekeeping: “People have said to me, ‘We get it now’.

“He’s so mature and sensible, and I’m so not. And the things he says to me… they’re just lovely. It’s like a jigsaw, we just fit, and it all comes together.”

The insider added that the pair have also talked about marriage, revealing that Alison “would love” to tie the knot one day. The TV host was previously married to Aidan’s father, Noureddine Boufaied, but their union ended in divorce.

Talking about Alison’s relationship with her younger beau, the source went on: “They went through some tough times when they first started going out but David has made her believe in love again and has restored her faith in men.

“Add in the fact that she is very happy in her new relationship and has got Aidan’s approval and Alison couldn’t be happier.
