A round-up of the latest Liverpool news as Anthony Gordon issues his honest verdict on winger Mohamed Salah and Anfield chiefs monitor a £100m Premier League star.
‘No chance’ that Liverpool sell Wataru Endo in the January transfer window
Arne Slot might have watched Liverpool beat Southampton 2-1 in the EFL Cup quarter-finals in the stands while serving a touchline ban but the Reds boss would have seen Wataru Endo excel in a rare appearance this season. Now, the Reds are unlikely to sell him in January, too.
That is according to David Lynch, who reports that there is ‘no chance’ of Liverpool agreeing to sell Endo in the upcoming winter transfer window. The Reds intend to block any potential move for the midfielder to give valuable depth before reconsidering his future next summer.
Endo has convinced Liverpool to block his transfer next month despite only playing 11 times so far this season under Slot. The 31-year-old has also made just three of his appearances in their starting XI, with each of those incidents even coming in each of their EFL Cup matches.

Anthony Gordon names Mohamed Salah as the Premier League’s greatest winger
Newcastle United ace Anthony Gordon was perennially linked with a transfer to Liverpool in the summer, which would have seen the England international link up with who he ranks as the greatest Premier League winger of all-time in Mohamed Salah if the Toon had cashed in.
Gordon is adamant that Salah’s success with Liverpool makes him the best wide player that the English top-flight has witnessed since the breakaway Premier League began in 1992/93. Salah joined Liverpool from Roma for £34m in 2017 and has led the Reds’ attack ever since.
During his 265 Premier League appearances for Liverpool so far, Salah has scored 168 goals and assisted a further 77. He has even scored at least 18 goals in every season, and already has 13 in just 15 games this term. Salah also won Liverpool the Premier League in 2019/20.
So, Gordon believes it is an easy decision to name Liverpool legend Salah as the best winger in Premier League history – snubbing the likes of Manchester United icon Cristiano Ronaldo, Tottenham Hotspur hero Gareth Bale and Chelsea legend Eden Hazard as the greatest so far.
“I just think he’s a machine,” Gordon told Sky Sports about Salah. “I think to be at the top for so long the way he has, if you look at his stats from the first season he joined Liverpool, he’s just been so consistently elite. Playing in the Prem every week as a winger, I know how it is.”

Liverpool monitor Brighton’s £100m forward Joao Pedro to replace Darwin Nunez
Liverpool are actively monitoring Brighton & Hove Albion ace Joao Pedro as the club studies possible replacements for Darwin Nunez. That is according to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, who has exclusively told Rousing The Kop that the Reds have been following Pedro for years.
Pedro first appeared on the Merseyside outfit’s radar whilst the 23-year-old was still playing in his native Brazil before joining Watford in 2020. But the Fluminense product’s displays for Brighton have now thrust Pedro firmly into the race should Liverpool elect to offload Nunez.
However, Brighton are tough negotiators and have earmarked Pedro as the latest player the Amex Stadium side can seek a sky-high transfer fee for. After selling Moises Caicedo for an initial £100m rising to £115m to Chelsea in 2023, Brighton feel Pedro can now fetch £100m.
Brighton only signed Pedro from Watford for £30m in 2023 but have since seen their striker score 24 and assist six goals in 50 games. The one-cap Brazil gem, who got his senior debut for the Selecao in November 2023, has four goals and three assists in 10 games this season.
