Dianne Buswell has confirmed she ‘cried like a baby’ after winning Strictly Come Dancing as she made a cheeky admission about what she does now she’s a show winner.

The professional dancer was heaped with praise throughout the 2024 run of the BBC One dance contest thanks to her teaching of and partnership with Chris McCausland.

Comedian Chris – who was Strictly’s first-ever blind contestant and winner – and professional dancer Dianne Buswell were paired together for the 20th-anniversary series of the show in September and were eventually crowned champions of the hit programme’s 20th-anniversary series.

The pair beat tough competition from fellow finalists Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and partner Vito Coppola, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and dancer Aljaz Skorjanec and JLS singer JB Gill and partner Lauren Oakley to lift the famous Glitterball trophy, which Chris as ‘astonishing’.

Now, Chris has been heard recalling the moment host Tess Daly confirmed he and Dianne had won Strictly’s 2024 series, saying on This Morning: “As soon as they announced our names, Dianne just broke down in tears and was just sobbing and she set me off and I started sobbing.

“The two of us were just holding onto each other crying and luckily the other guys all came in and gave us a big celebratory group hug because we would have just been there for half an hour.”

Dianne has since shared the clip of Chris’ interview to her own Instagram Story and said: “It’s true, I cried like a baby [red heart emoji]. Still do whenever I think about it [face holding back tears emoji]. And I’m glad I’m not the only one that answers the door holding the Glitterball [crying laughing face emoji].”
