I’m A Celebrity star Maura Higgins ‘showed her true competitive colours’ as she made it to the top four fighting for immunity.
Coleen Rooney, Danny Jones, Oti Mabuse and Maura were the top four stars fighting for a ticket to the Cyclone after joining the other stars in the Arcade of Agony. Whoever wins the spot in the highly-desired Cyclone will get immunity from the next two vote-offs and be closer to being crowned the winner.
At the trial, the stars were allocated a grabbing machine loaded with balls to win. Each ball they won had a number of tickets they could deposit into the ticket collection box. However, every go on the machine needed a coin, which was only available to retrieve from a box of fish guts.
Coleen got off to a flying start and even ended up with a bug in her ear. Medics rushed in to remove it but it ended up crawling out. Soon, it was time for Maura and her team to have a go at the challenge. Although she wasn’t ‘excited’ about it, she ended up being competitive and ‘broke a nail’.
Body language expert Judi James said that “Maura showed her true colours last night in terms of ruthless competitiveness and a will to win and it was a formidable sight.”

Speaking about her performance at the trial, she said: “Love Island fans already know all about this girl’s heroic grit, but this might have been the first time jungle fans were allowed to glimpse it.” Speaking to Paddy Power Games, Judi added: ““Maura will know she needs the pass to the final more than Coleen and even Oti. She came into the show late and fans prefer to vote for celebs that were there at the start.
“She was a ‘might’ in terms of being voted out recently and she’s barely mentioned her professional status to throw rank, while the others and even ‘humble’ Coleen has been boasting about world fame and things like White House visits and big cars.” Judi pointed out Maura’s tendencies to ‘be entertaining’ during trials rather than ‘show her capacity for bravery’ by screaming and yelling. However, Maura showed a new side that Dec called ‘primaeval’ last night.

The body language expert said: “Waiting for the task to start, she was poised like Usain Bolt and her arms were held out to ‘dive’ into the tank with no trace of squeamishness or fear. The critters were suddenly irrelevant to Maura and in the moments when she squatted on the ground, smashing the plastic balls to get to the tickets, she really did reveal her ‘primaeval’ side.
“She even beat Coleen in the huge burst of released adrenalin as the task ended, spontaneously throwing her arms out wide in a gesture of aggressive arousal release and yelling ‘F**k me, that was good!’ while the others were panting and recovering. I’ve seen Ant and Dec cracking up at contestants before but not bent double in shocked laughter as they did last night.”
The expert continued: “Maura only showed a glimpse of what she’s capable of here and deserves to be in the Cyclone Challenge if the fans want some real entertainment. She and Oti even stepped up to the ‘shower moment’ in a fan face-off with Coleen. It’s the raised arms, arched back pit-bare facing in the direction of the camera or side on to it that is the money shot and, although Coleen won this headline-getter last night, Maura showed she’s still very much in the game.”
