Vera returned to ITV for it’s highly anticipated Christmas Special, however fans took to social media with complaints.
ITV’s beloved crime drama Vera returned to screens with another captivating episode of murder mysteries set against the breathtaking Northumberland landscape.
However, as Brenda Blethyn’s character DCI Vera Stanhope led her team through the suspicious death of a television personality, some viewers noticed a distracting habit.
Blethyn starred alsongside Kenny Doughty who reprised his character DS Aiden Healy for the final time before his exit from the gripping drama.
With a hoard of new characters for the harrowing storyline, fans took to social media to point out an “unbearable,” complaint.
On X, @enigma4_2000 stated: “Love #vera but by Christ this episode has the most SHOCKING accents.! It’s almost unbearable.”

While @philm2244 remarked: “The mixed up schedules means I’m accidently watching #Vera. Never watched it before. Now I know why!”
Other viewers pointed out that the Christmas Special was a repeat from last year, as a disappointed @1stLadyHooligan shared: “Ugh got happy that #Vera is on until I realised it’s a b****y repeat.”
A frustrated @soniascs46 noted: “I didn’t realise it is a repeat,” as @ihnewman shared that it was also the “Christmas special last yr #vera.”

ITV recently confirmed that after 13 years onscreen, Vera will offically be coming to an end this year with two feature lengh episodes.
DCI Vera’s official final appearance will be a part of the broadcaster’s Christmas line-up for 2024 it addition to its annual 14 episode.
Fans will also enjoy Vera…Farewell Pet, a special documentary that includes behind-the-scenes interviews with the cast and crew, celebrating the show’s immense success.
The announcement of the drama’s final series also unveiled several high-profile guest stars for the remaining episodes, including Auf Wiedersehen Pet legend Kevin Whately and former Coronation Street actress Shobna Gulati.
