I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here fans have shared why they think Oti Mabuse ‘deserves’ to be crowned Queen of the Jungle with days to go until the final.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star is among the eight campmates remaining Down Under following the start of the eliminations ahead of the last episode of the ITV reality show’s 2024 series this Sunday (December 8).
During the latest instalment of jungle action on Wednesday night (December 4), the campmates were seen sitting around the campfire when Danny Jones asked Coleen Rooney how she’d got to this point in her life.
Telling the campmates she had a very happy and content childhood, she shared her mum was a nursery nurse and her dad was a brick layer: “We didn’t have much but we had everything we needed, it was a very happy childhood, I wouldn’t change it. I think that’s what has given me my morals and my way that I instil in my kids too, the way I was brought up.”
Alan Hasall related to Coleen, saying his childhood mirrored a lot of what she said: “I had a really happy childhood but… without the support of my parents I wouldn’t be sat here doing this now.”
Speaking about vividly remembering his first day on Coronation Street, he said: “I remember just looking around and Mike Baldwin was over there, and Ken Barlow was over there and Jack and Vera and it was mind-blowing. Everyone there welcomed me with open arms and it genuinely is like one big family.”
Meanwhile, Oti spoke about her upbringing in South Africa and how she’d danced since the age of four. But after telling her parents that she wanted to go into musical theatre, they didn’t agree and she ended up studying engineering for years. She eventually moved to Germany to follow her dancing dream.
Oti spoke about her journey from South Africa to being on Strictly in the UK
“They were all against me moving to Germany, the whole family!” Oti revealed. “So I started doing Strictly Germany and then three months later I got the job for UK Strictly and every single year it was the aim to get that Glitterball. Finally, I got it with Kelvin Fletcher and the next year I got Bill Bailey and and we won again which had never been done before. And now I’m here!”
And fans were loving listening to Oti’s story. @roxierhubarb said: “Oti is an inspirational woman – someone that has got where she is by sheer grit and determination. Now SHE is someone who is a role model. A beautiful dancer and a beautiful soul.” @berlish21 wrote: “Now this is the type of story I want to hear. Real life experience.”
@bregram95 commented: “Oti is such a sweetheart, I absolutely love her.” @khadeeja_uddin posted: “Oti to win, the kindest soul and she deserves to be crowned queen of the jungle.” @momodavies shared: “Love Oti she’s my winner.” @helencus added: “One of absolutely loviest women on TV. She’s my Queen!”
