Homes Under the Hammer star Martin Roberts has revealed he was left moved recently after a ‘sweet’ gesture from Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The 24th series of the hit ITV jungle series is currently underway with the likes of Coleen Rooney, McFly’s Danny Jones and Strictly’s Oti Mabuse in the line-up – to name a few.
Martin, 61, appeared on I’m A Celebrity himself back in 2016, where he was the seventh star to be eliminated, and he was left touched recently after he was mentioned on the ITV series.
In a recent episode, Ant and Dec mentioned Martin as they referenced an iconic scene from his series. After the campmates were seen performing Singin’ In The Rain, Dec joked: “Singin’ In The Rain? Bit late, a bit Homes Under the Hammer” to which Ant quipped: “Shut up Martin” as Dec pointed out: “Ooh deep-cut callback to 2016, I like it!”

Talking exclusively about the mention, Martin admitted it ‘made my day’. The presenter said: “It was really sweet! I absolutely jumped out of my chair and started whooping because you do think since then there’s been about 100 campmates gone through.
“It was just really nice that they both remembered and I do get a lot of people still coming up to me still saying how much they enjoyed my time on the show. But to have that little mention they will probably never realise that it was really sweet and definitely made my day!”
However, Martin hilariously added: “Not sure being remembered for ‘shut up Martin’ is necessarily something I would want on my gravestone!”
Martin also took to Instagram to post the mention, where he penned: “What a nice surprise to get a mention from Ant & Dec on last nights ‘I’m a Celeb’. I can’t believe it’s 8 years ago that I was on. But it’s lovely that people still come up to me saying they remember and enjoyed my antics in the jungle #ImACeleb @imacelebrity.”

Elsewhere during the exclusive chat, Martin had some advice for this year’s celebrities upon leaving the jungle as he said: “It’s a bit of a comedown! It’s an initial flurry of craziness, you know, you’ve got all the press, all your family, it’s intense, and that’s fine for a little bit but then after a week or so life does return to normal.
“After you’ve been through that, like any experience, I think that does take a bit of getting used to, it’s very easy to be looking around going: ‘Right okay, what’s going on now, what’s going to happen now? I’m ready’… well, nothing actually, because everything takes a long time in terms of whatever it is career or projects you’ve got going on.
“You just have to accept it was an amazing experience, treasure it and give yourself time to ease back into normality, which after that kind of experience is not easy.”
