ITV The Chase flooded with complaints as furious fans switch off: ‘What’s the point?’

The Chase fans were left raging as they tuned into the latest episode which saw four contestants take on Mark Labbett.

The Chase viewers were in uproar as they flooded the ITV programme with the same complaint.

Tuesday’s instalment (January 7) of the quiz show saw four contestants take on Mark Labbett in the hopes of winning some cash.

First to take on The Beast was Stephen, a civil servant from Lincolnshire. The 40-year-old showcased his impressive knowledge in the cash builder, answering a staggering nine questions correctly.

Heading to the table with £9,000, Stephen was in the perfect position as he waited for Mark’s offers. Despite proving he has the brains, Stephen went for Mark’s low offer of £3,000.

After Stephen made it back to the team, it was Chynna’s turn to add to the prize pot. The 31-year-old had no problems following in her co-stars footsteps, answering eight questions correctly in the cash builder.

But just like her teammate, Chynna opted for the low offer of £2,000. She took the team’s overall total to £5,000, with host Bradley Walsh pointing out that they could have £17,000 instead.

Up next was Rob, an ambulance dispatch officer from Newcastle. The 28-year-old answered six questions correctly in the cash builder and, refusing to take a minus offer, stuck with this in the head-to-head with Mark.

However, Rob was caught before making it back to the final chase. The final contestant to take on The Beast was Carol. She headed to the table with £3,000, but like her co-stars, decided to go for the low offer.

In taking -£2,000, the trio ended up playing for just £1,000 each in the final chase.

Viewers were utterly furious by what they had witnessed as they flocked to social media to complain.

One fumed: “Oh my God! This team! First two get £8&9k and go low, and the stupid woman at the end is bound to go low because she’s telling everyone else to. What a waste! They could have been playing for £90k and they’re playing for £5k! What’s the point of coming on?”

A second agreed: “What’s the point? The amount of money back won’t be worth winning. Annoying team with silly low offers!”

Another wrote: “Just switched it on…immediately switched it off.”

A third added: “I’m not even going to watch the final. I’m fu***ng off to Pointless. Thanks a lot, team.”

Another raging fan posted: “The very deliberate switch to getting Bradley & The Chasers to non-stop say ‘it’s tactical/smart/brave actually’ to go low has totally killed the programme. Totally different vibe from even a few years ago.”

Someone else chimed in: “Why bother applying for the chase if you’re not gonna aim for a decent amount of money. Nobody cares that you’re a know it all if you have f all in the pot.”

The team answered 12 questions correctly in the final chase before Mark caught them with six seconds remaining.
