Meghan Markle would have been “jealous” over Princess Kate’s major nomination this year, a royal expert has claimed.

This comes after Princess Kate, 42, was nominated by American magazine Time for its Person of the Year award 2024. Kate’s nomination came after “made international headlines this year and stirred a conversation about privacy and health for public figures,” according to the magazine.

Although she did not win the award, which was given to President-Elect Donald Trump, royal expert Charlotte Griffiths from the Mail on Sunday said Meghan, 43, would most likely have been jealous of the nomination.

Speaking on the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential, Charlotte said: “Meghan would have been really jealous. She would have loved to have been nominated for Time Women of the Year.”

While the Duchess of Sussex has remained under the radar for most of the year, it is believed the mum-of-two is preparing for a big 2025, which will include the official launch of her American Riviera Orchard products.

Royal Family members not set to attend Sandringham this year

With just five days until Christmas, many members of the Royal Family will no doubt be getting ready to celebrate the festivities with King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Each year, members of the Royal Family gather at Sandringham to spend the big day together, starting with a gift-giving and a formal dinner on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day then consists of breakfast, the famous walk to church for the Christmas service, and then back to Sandringham House for Christmas Dinner and games.

While several senior royals are expected to attend the celebrations this year, including Prince William, Princess Kate, and their three children, the guest list is missing some key royals who, for one reason or another, will not be attending.

Here is a list of the royals who won’t be present for the celebrations this year at Sandringham.

One rule Prince William and Princess Kate let slide at Christmas

The Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly “let one rule slide at Christmas” when it comes to their children.

According to a source who previously spoke to US Weekly, the rule the couple breaks is spoiling Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

The source said: “While Kate and William avoid overly spoiling the children, they let the rule slide at Christmas.”

Meghan Markle now criticised by publication that was once an ally

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been criticised by a US media publication that was once in their favour for their “tortured attempts” at becoming successful in the US.

The Cut, who once portrayed Meghan very positively in a 2022 interview with the duchess just two years after she quit life as a senior royal, have now written negatively about the mum-of-two following the launch of the couple’s latest Netflix series Polo—a five-part series that follows the lives of those who are involved in the elitist sport.

Princess Michael of Kent breaks both wrists in fall

Princess Michael of Kent, the wife of Prince Michael of Kent, reportedly broke both her wrists in a fall down the stairs at Kensington Palace, where the couple live.

Marie Christine, who lives at Kensington Palace with her husband, attended King Charles’s pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace on Thursday with both her wrists in splints.

GB News reported that the princess, 79, was carrying an armful of overcoats when she fell, breaking multiple small bones in her wrist when putting her hands out to break her fall.

Princess Alexandra makes second appearance of the year

Princess Alexandra sparked fan frenzy yesterday as she was spotted visiting Buckingham Palace, marking her second appearance this year.

The cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth, 87, attended the Royal Family’s pre-Christmas lunch on Thursday, hosted by King Charles.

The princess, who will celebrate her next birthday on Christmas Day, was all smiles as she was driven into the Palace.

It is believed she was last seen in public in February at the memorial service for King Constantine of Greece. At the service, she was seated in a wheelchair on the front row at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, next to her daughter Marina Ogilvy.

King ‘grateful’ to Sarah Ferguson after Prince Andrew’s latest scandal

King Charles is ‘very grateful’ to Sarah Ferguson for persuading Prince Andrew to skip the royal Christmas celebrations, a source has claimed.

The king’s brother has found himself at the centre of another scandal over his links to alleged Chinese spy Yang Tengbo. The Duke and Duchess of York announced they will not be attending the Royal Family’s Christmas celebrations, as well as a lunch for the wider family at Buckingham Palace.

Andrew and his ex-wife are now expected to spend the festive period at the Royal Lodge in Windsor after it had been feared the latest headlines surrounding Andrew would have brought unwanted attention on the celebrations.

A palace source told the Times: “I know that the King is very grateful to the duchess for her assistance.”

King Charles’ latest health update

King Charles’s cancer treatment will continue into 2025, although it is moving “in a positive direction,” sources say.

The Buckingham Palace source said, “His treatment has been moving in a positive direction, and as a managed condition, the treatment cycle will continue into next year,” Sky News reported.

In February, the King announced he had been diagnosed with a form of cancer and had begun a schedule of regular treatments, prompting well-wishes and praise for his candour about his health difficulties.
