Princess Charlotte bears a striking resemblance to one beloved royal
Royal fans were delighted after they saw a throwback photograph of a beloved royal who bore a striking resemblance to Princess Charlotte.
The Royal Collection Trust, the charity that is responsible for the care and conservation of the monarchy’s art collection for public viewing, posted an unearthed Christmas card on social media of Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret when they were just 12 and eight years old.
The sweet snap, taken in 1938 by Marcus Adams but released in 1939, featured the late monarch and her sister looking at the camera while sitting.
The snap featured in a Christmas card which said: “With best wishes for Christmas from Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose.”
It also featured a drawing of two children surrounded by mistletoes and holding a round pin, bearing the French and British flags.

Along with the photograph came the caption: “This photo of the then Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret was taken in 1939 by Marcus Adams.”
Royal fans were delighted to see an unearthed photo of the royals, with some of them comparing the late Queen to her great-granddaughter, while others suggesting Elizabeth looked very similar to her own father, King George VI.
One user commented on Instagram: “And apart from the curly hair, that is Princess Charlotte.”
Another one replied: “Agree!”
A third one wrote: “Twinning!”

Meanwhile a fourth one said: “Princess Elizabeth is the image of her father King George VI, when he was a boy.”
A fifth one observed: “So this is a specially-made Christmas greeting made to be sent to France”.
The Royal Collection Trust replied: “The photograph was originally taken by Marcus Adams in December 1938; this card was produced by Raphael Tuck & Sons, which printed Christmas cards.
“We don’t have any additional context, but we think it was made in December 1938 following the important royal state visit to France in 1938.”.
