Strictly’s Pete Wicks opens up on having children after Maura Higgins confirms romance

Strictly Come Dancing semi-finalist Pete Wicks has revealed he would be brutally honest with his children, should he decide to have any in the future.

After receiving a drawing from a young fan, 36-year-old Pete joked that parents need to be more honest with their children about their artistic abilities, instead of praising them.

Sharing his verdict, he said: “If I ever have children, I will be the sort of father that would tell them the truth.

“So, when your child brings home a picture and everyone goes, ‘Oh, that’s wonderful’, but really you’re thinking, ‘What the f**k is it?’, I will say, ‘What the f**k is it?’.”

He continued: “The picture I got sent last night was f*****g vile.

“Let’s stop enabling children to think their drawing is good because a lot of the time, they’re bad, that’s all.”

Speaking on his Staying Relevant podcast, Pete’s Strictly partner Jowita Przystał told listeners that the picture did actually make him smile, despite his brutal verdict.

Pete jokingly retorted: “Well there’s one thing wrong with it at the start.”

The Strictly hopeful’s comments come just days after his rumoured love interest Maura admitted she was “seeing someone” before entering the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.

Although she didn’t name Pete specifically, the 34-year-old alluded to their recent outings together.

In a chat with GK Barry about attempts to keep her love life private, she said: “What’s the point in getting them [the media] involved too soon, when you just don’t know where it’s gonna go, you know?”

Addressing recent cosy pictures of the pair, she added: “Well we’ve already been papped, tongues down each other’s necks and we had no idea!

“The funniest part was I had a vape in one hand and a cigarette in the other, living my best life.”

While the I’m A Celebrity star has acknowledged their romantic connection, both have maintained that they are single and not officially an item just yet.

Pete has since thrown his support behind Maura on Instagram, where he encouraged his followers to vote to keep her in camp.

Alongside a meme of her in the jungle, he wrote: “I’ve been George of the Jungle [on Strictly] but now it’s time to vote for Maura of the Jungle.”
