The 22-year-old shared an emotional message with her fans, reflecting on her first season in professional basketball and expressing her feelings after the unfortunate setback.

“What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol,” Reese wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact.

“I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so. I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next. Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break. “God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers,” she added.

Reese expressed her commitment to supporting her teammates from the sidelines and hinted at her participation in the Unrivaled league, which is set to take place after the current WNBA season concludes.

“You’ll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline! And Unrivaled league, see you soon!” the rookie said.

In her debut WNBA season, Angel Reese played a pivotal role in boosting the league’s popularity with her outstanding performances and fierce competitive spirit. The former LSU star shattered multiple records and set new milestones, showcasing her unmatched skillset.

Reese made history by breaking the single-season rebounding record, grabbing more boards than any player in a WNBA season. The 22-year-old also set the record for the most double-doubles by a rookie, recording her 26th in the Sky’s recent game against the Sparks on Friday.

Overall, the one-time WNBA All-Star averaged 13.6 points after playing 34 games in her rookie season. She shot 39.1% from the field, including 18.8% from the 3-point range.

Reese also averaged 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
