The Lakers made a few roster moves this summer, but some quickly became controversial among insiders, including Max Christie. One writer for The Athletic doesn’t really understand the logic behind it.

Unfortunately, and to the great dismay of the fans, the Lakers still haven’t recruited anyone on the market at the moment.

Two players from the draft and a few moves including an extension, and that’s it.

A curious decision for a franchise that dreams of winning the NBA championship , but the front office is convinced that it has a competitive roster.

Lakers questioned after their move

The Angelinos’ rotation will also undergo some changes for the start of the school year, especially with JJ Redick as coach now.

Max Christie, often snubbed by Darvin Ham, will have minutes especially since he extended his contract during the offseason.

But this move, at 32 million for 4 years, surprises people, including journalist John Hollinger.

John Hollinger : “The problem is they tried to get rid of the player (944 minutes in 67 games), he wasn’t really good, and he didn’t fit into the rotation with a bench that’s probably the worst in the league.

It was a little shocking to see the Lakers sign him to a four-year, $32 million deal, including a player option on the fourth year. I’ve talked to other people around the league and I’m not the only one.”

Christie remains a young player with potential, which probably explains the Lakers’ choice.

But can the guard take a step forward in 2025 and earn a spot alongside LeBron James and company?

He doesn’t really have a choice anymore.

He is a good player

Max Christie has mixed feelings among Lakers fans. Some think he’ll establish himself in the rotation with his shooting, while others are concerned about his contract. 2025 will (already) be a make-or-break season for him.
