Despite his success and the excellent resume he has built in the NBA, Rudy Gobert is often the target of criticism from players and former players.

Among the Frenchman’s chief “haters” is a certain Shaquille O’Neal, who once again made headlines with an insulting remark.

But this time, the tricolor did not let it go. And he made things clear.

Why do Americans like to criticize Rudy Gobert so much? No one really knows, you’d have to ask them.

What is certain is that the Saint-Quentin native is probably the most criticized All-Star in the league for several years, even though he’s not trying to stir up enemy fire or adopt provocative behavior.

Notably mocked by Draymond Green on several occasions, Gobert has to deal with another loudmouth in the person of Shaquille O’Neal.

In the past, the Diesel has made very harsh remarks towards the Frenchman, taking offense in particular at his salary and criticizing his game whenever he could.

Recently, he took it a step further by giving the four-time defender of the year an insulting distinction during a podcast:

Myles O’Neal : “Who is the worst player in history?”

Shaquille O’Neal : « Rudy Gobert. »

Myles : “Oh my God (laughs). I knew you were going to say Rudy Gobert. Is he worse than Ben Simmons?”

Shaq : “Ben Simmons is another failure.”

Furious, Rudy Gobert counterattacks against Shaq

One attack too many? You have to believe. Scalded by this new gratuitous attack, and which, in the absence of the previous ones, was purely gratuitous and devoid of any argument, the Wolves pivot chose to react on his social networks.

And no doubt, as you can see below: he has clearly had enough

It’s sad to see someone who has accomplished as much as you have, Shaq, both in sports and business, be so bothered by another man’s accomplishments and finances.

I understand the entertainment aspect, but unlike other people, you don’t need that to continue to exist.

Tired of being slammed in the face by Shaquille O’Neal, who seems to take a malicious pleasure in criticizing him regardless of any justification or not, Rudy Gobert has said stop. Will his clear and precise words be enough to stop the Big Cactus, or even, you never know, to extract a few apologies from him? Time will tell…
