SHE is the daughter of one of America’s greatest sporting superstars.

But Elisa Johnson, the daughter of NBA icon Magic Johnson, has very much gone her own way in life and has become a big success in her own right.

Elisa, who always been very much into accessories, launched her own sunglasses brand.

Reflecting back to when she first had plans for the business, Elisa reveals her dad was supportive, but wanted to make sure she had concrete objectives.

“My dad said he would help me as long as I had an actual business plan,” Elisa said.

“He wasn’t going to just help me and give me the money without actually seeing everything laid out, top to bottom.

“Honestly, at first, I was super discouraged because I took it more as if he didn’t believe in me.

“But then I realized he wanted me to go about it the right way. To this day, I thank him for that.

“I showed him my original plan, thinking it was amazing. He actually ended up saying no because he felt like it wasn’t ready.

“I went back to the drawing board and I gave him another one a year ago and he ended up saying yes.”

Elisa also admits that while having famous people in your family can have its advantages, it brings real pressures too.

“I think that sometimes as a child of someone in the limelight, you feel all eyes are on you,” she said.

“And also it feels sometimes if I fail, then everyone’s going to know and it’s going to be super embarrassing.

“That played into a lot of my anxiety about launching.

“I think I put a lot more pressure on myself because I knew people were watching, but also because my parents invested into this.

I wanted to prove in some way to them that I can do this. It’s important for me to have my own thing.

“I don’t want to be just Magic Johnson’s daughter, I didn’t want to be EJ’s sister.”

Inside the NBA’s future?

Inside the NBA’s run on TNT Sports is in major doubt due to the NBA’s broadcasting deals.

The Emmy-winning sports show is a fan favorite thanks to the likes of Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley.

But TNT’s broadcast deal with the NBA is up after next season and NBC looks set to take those rights in a $2.6bn deal.

If TNT loses its NBA package, it raises serious questions over the popular Inside the NBA.

One solution could be to recreate the show on another network, which snaps up the NBA rights.

Magic Johnson spent the majority of his remarkable career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He won five NBA titles with the Lakers in the 1980s.

Magic is married to Earletha, who is affectionately called Cookie. They have two children together, with Elisa being adopted.

Their daughter Earvin III “EJ” Johnson is a star on the reality show, Rich Kids of Beverly Hills.

Elisa meanwhile has very much made her mark in the business world. It’s quite a family.
