Victor Wembanyama en conférence de presse pour les Spurs

Already considered one of the favorites for the DPOY title in 2025, Victor Wembanyama could grab another trophy next year.

But for more and more people, the Frenchman should not even be in the conversation.

Victor Wembanyama will undoubtedly have a pretty crazy 2024/25 campaign in the NBA, with why not multiple trophies at the end.

He is already the favorite for the DPOY and he especially hopes to reach the playoffs for the first time in his young career.

The addition of Chris Paul will be welcome for that to the Spurs, even if Wembanyama can dream of another trophy.

Victor Wembanyama snubbed of a possible trophy?

For a few days, a debate has been taking place among fans about Victor. ESPN has indeed ranked him first to win the MIP title, i.e. the best progression of the season.

But should a rookie of the year, considered a star, be eligible? No, for many Internet users, including Brett Usher, who shared his opinion on Twitter.

Brett Usher: “He shouldn’t be considered, he’s already a superstar.”

For many people, Wembanyama’s star status must prevent him from winning the MIP title.

He would obviously need exceptional statistics to do so, but this kind of opinion may come as a surprise considering that Ja Morant won it in 2019.

Should Wemby really be snubbed if the stats are there?

I agree for the most part. However, if Morant was eligible, I don’t see why Wemby should be ineligible.

A real threat to the MVP

Victor Wembanyama for the MIP title? If we had to choose, we imagine that the Frenchman would prefer to try his luck with the MVP, at least if the Spurs have a great season.

However, and when we see that Ja Morant won it in 2019, there is no reason to snub the Frenchman for this trophy.
