The Lakers made a few moves in their roster this summer, but some quickly caused controversy among insiders, including Max Christie.

A journalist from The Athletic doesn’t really understand the logic behind it.

Unfortunately and to the great displeasure of fans, the Lakers still haven’t recruited anyone on the market at the moment.

Two players from the draft and a few moves including an extension, and that’s it.

A curious decision for a franchise that dreams of winning the NBA championship, but the front office is convinced that it has a competitive roster.

The Lakers questioned after their move

The Angelinos’ rotation will also undergo some changes for the start of the school year, especially with JJ Redick now as coach.

Max Christie, often snubbed by Darvin Ham, will have minutes especially since he extended his contract during the offseason.

But this move, at 32 million for 4 years, surprises people, including journalist John Hollinger.

John Hollinger: “The problem is that they tried to get rid of the player (944 minutes in 67 games), that he was not really good, and that he did not manage to integrate the rotation while the bench is perhaps the worst in the league.

It was a little shocking to see the Lakers commit to a 4-year contract and $32 million to bring him back, including a player option on the fourth year.

I have spoken to other people in the league and I am not the only one.”

Christie remains a young player with potential, which probably explains the Lakers’ choice.

But can the guard take a step forward in 2025 and make a place alongside LeBron James and company? He no longer really has a choice.

He’s a good player

Max Christie has mixed feelings among Lakers fans.

Some think he’ll establish himself in the rotation with his shooting, while others are concerned about his contract. 2025 will (already) be a make-or-break season for him.
