NBA LeBron James avec les Lakers

During his career, LeBron James has had quite a few great players as teammates.

But while many people have dreamed of being able to play with the King, a former superstar revealed that he refused his offer to join him several years ago.

Among the most famous names in the history of sports is that of LeBron James.

And if the Lakers star forward enjoys such international notoriety, it is largely thanks to his record and his multiple feats on the basketball court.

Within the league, the vast majority of athletes have great respect for him.

Some have had the chance to play with him and others still dream of it.

Since it is impossible to win alone in the NBA, several superstars have been able to play alongside the four-time MVP on different teams.

A simple call is sometimes enough for the King to recruit a player.

But when he was still in Cleveland, he didn’t necessarily have the same power over the decisions of others, and even over his best friends, as Carmelo Anthony revealed in an episode of Podcast P.

LeBron’s proposal refused by Carmelo!

Before the Big Three in Miami, we talked about LeBron and I because I was close to Dwyane Wade and him. LeBron and D-Wade were also close, but we had never been as close as when we started to get older.

We had common experiences, like playing on the world champion team, and that’s when our bond really started to blossom.

I think it’s because we lost together and we felt the same pain, the same feeling, that we got closer. LeBron and I always said, “We have to play together sooner or later.” Somehow, if the opportunity came up, we had to take it.

We never knew where we could get together. LeBron asked me to join him, but I told him I didn’t want to play in Cleveland.

The conversation got serious after 2006, 2007, 2008. It was supposed to be Chris Bosh and Wade, and LeBron and I, going somewhere. We couldn’t figure out where.

We wanted it to be New York. Chicago was also in our sights. If we could find a place, it would have been Chicago. But I was in Denver and LeBron was in Cleveland.

When free agency came around, we tried to make it work.

Carmelo Anthony may be close to LeBron James, but that wasn’t enough to convince him to join him in Cleveland in the 2000s.

It took until the 2021-2022 campaign, which also marked Melo’s final season in the league, for the two All-Stars to team up under the Lakers jersey.

But unfortunately, this collaboration was not crowned with a championship ring.

LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony have experienced almost everything together during their careers, often as rivals, but also teammates with the Lakers and Team USA.

However, the former Nuggets superstar admitted that he refused to join LeBron on the Cavaliers well before that.
