Things didn’t go her way on Monday night

SOPHIE Cunningham’s latest WNBA outfit is being rated a slam dunk.

The 28-year-old Phoenix Mercury guard wowed in a figure-hugging dress ahead of Monday’s showdown with the New York Liberty.

Cunningham posed in the multi-colored outfit ahead of the WNBA game at the Footprint Center in Arizona.

Pairing the daring look with sunglasses and high-heeled shoes, the former second-round pick won hearts on social media.

The Mercury’s official X account shared a viral clip of Cunningham posing for the cameras before tip-off, showing off her tan lines.

“This week a hot new bombshell enters the villa,” they joked, referencing the reality TV show Love Island.

Cunningham’s dazzling display was certainly a hit with WNBA fans watching at home and in the arena.

“Sophie looks STUNNING,” gasped one fan in reply.

“I’m starting to like the WNBA,” laughed another.

“The Queen of the @WNBA,” added a third.

“The reaction this got in the arena last night was crazy,” commented a fourth.

Sadly for Cunningham, she was unable to produce on the court as the Mercury went down to the Liberty.

Pheonix fell to an 84-70 loss, with Cunningham only able to add 2 points and 5 rebounds.

The loss drops the Mercury to 16-15 on the regular WNBA season.

It’s 10 years since the team’s last title, but this season has marked a huge improvement on a disastrous 2023 when the Mercury ended 9–31.

Cunningham was the 13th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft for Phoenix.

How the WNBA works

THE 2024 WNBA season features 12 teams with the regular-season running from May 14 to September 9.

Each team plays 40 regular-season games – four against five teams from the same conference and two teams from the other conference, and three games against the remaining four teams.

The top eight teams in the league standings qualify for the playoffs – regardless of what conference they’re in.

The playoffs will use a best-of-three format in the first round while the semifinals and WNBA Finals are best of five.

This season also includes a month-long break for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Las Vegas Aces are defending back-to-back WNBA champions.

She played four seasons of college basketball at the University of Missouri, averaging 17 points per game for the Tigers.

Since entering the league, the 6-foot-1 Missouri native has struggled to nail down a consistent starting role.

She enjoyed a breakout year in 2022, spending a career-best average of 29.5 minutes on the court.

Cunningham also upped her rebounds per game to 4.4 and averaged 12.6 points across the season.

Across her career, the guard has earned $383,280, per Spotrac.

The Phoenix star signed a 2-year, fully guaranteed $304,500 contract with the franchise last summer.
