Following her remarkable performances with the French team at the Paris Olympic Games, Gabby Williams made her comeback to the WNBA on Monday with the Seattle Storm.
Her coach, Noelle Quinn, spoke about her reintegration into the group.
It’s like the impression she won’t forget this summer any time soon. Quite logically selected for the French team to compete in the Paris Olympic Games, Gabby Williams had a remarkable run all the way to the final.
Unfortunately for her and her teammates, it was the United States who took the gold medal following a 2-point shot at the buzzer that seemed like a heartbreak.
Inevitably bitter given this scenario, the Franco-American was nevertheless able to quickly find her smile again.
Indeed, she only had to wait a few hours before being officially re-signed by the Storm, and thus returning to the ranks of the WNBA.
A sort of homecoming that of course made her happy, and which really came to fruition in the last few hours across the Atlantic.
The Storm coach is straightforward about Gabby Williams’ return
Having arrived in the United States over the weekend, Williams was only able to do brief training sessions with her new teammates.
The latter, like Seattle star Jewell Loyd, seem to have made sure to facilitate her integration. However, this did not result in a victory against the Mystics (72-74) on Monday, despite the French international’s 3 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists:

Used off the bench during this game, Williams will need more time to show better production.
Her coach, Noelle Quinn, is nevertheless not worried about her and her adaptation to the team:
Noelle Quinn: I’m glad we had time to practice this week. And the good thing about Gabby being back is that we just have to review certain things with her, not teach them to her.
She’s so smart and she quickly assimilates what we tell her.
We haven’t changed our game system too much since last year, so she can quickly find her marks. It’s like she never left the team, in the end. And then, we know what she’s capable of defensively, so we just have to review certain points on that level.
But she’s still an Olympic silver medalist, so she should be fine.
Gabby Williams barely had time to put down her suitcases and was already on the WNBA courts this Monday.
Unable to prevent the Storm from losing, the French winger should however not take long to find her place in the system according to Noelle Quinn.
