Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese’s season is over after she sustained a wrist injury during Friday’s 92-78 win against the LA Sparks. The injury is season-ending and she will remain on the sidelines for the remainder of the season. After an NBA fan posted a compilation video of her courtside celebrations on X (formerly Twitter), she responded with a witty reply.
Reese was on the sidelines on Saturday as the Sky took on the Dallas Wings. Despite the absence of their star rookie, Chicago secured a 92-77 win to improve their record to 13-22 this season. The former LSU star was in fan mode and cheered for her teammates from the sidelines, celebrating each play.
A fan made a video compilation of her time on the bench celebrating the plays from her team and shared it on X. The fan even called Reese the “Sidelined Celebrator of the Year.” Reese reposted the fan-made video and captioned it:
“Be prepared to be sick of meeeee😭😫”
Reese confirmed her season-ending injury during an Instagram Live after their win against the Wings. She revealed that her wrist is due for surgery, which is why it will take her some time to recover.
She also confirmed her status on X, as she wrote a lengthy message to address her rookie season.
“What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed,” Angel Reese posted.
Reese added that she’ll continue to cheer on her teammates from the sidelines.
“You’ll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline! And Unrivaled league, see you soon! 💞😇.”
How did Angel Reese do in her rookie season?
Angel Reese’s injury was an abrupt ending to a stellar season. Reese was one of the best young forwards in the league this season and she has the stats to prove it. She played for 34 games, averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
Reese shot 39.1% from the field and 73.6% from the free throw line. The rookie also set a record of 15-straight double-doubles this season, beating Candace Parker’s 13. The 6-foot-3 forward also had 28 straight games of double-digit rebounds.
