WNBA fans were hyped on X, formerly Twitter, after Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese made the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Power List magazine. The fans flooded the comments section with their praises for the Sky star for getting featured on the cover.
One fan expressed their excitement by sharing the official Sports Illustrated post:
“Show me a rook that got this much motion. That’s number 5 Babyy!!”
Other fans joined in and expressed similar sentiments under the post.
“Queen Angel doing her thing,” @xxtina33 said.
“@Reese10Angel is bringing more fans to the @WNBA,” @AndyCryptoTX said.
“So proud of her. The haters are her footstool,” @milkymelanin said.
Another fan congratulated Reese and advised other fans to stop comparing the athletes.
“Good for Reese and good for the league. Peeps gotta stop pitting players and the league against one another, especially CC. It’s not CC vs the WNBA. It’s CC and the WBNA. Good to see the league getting some shine,” @PsychologyNba said.
“Congratulations Queen,” @iamMesh1 said.
Other WNBA players were also featured on the list. The most notable ones are Indiana Fever star rookie Caitlin Clark and reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson.
Reese was having a great season in the WNBA before getting sidelined with a season-ending wrist injury. She averaged a double-double with 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Reese still dominates the leaderboard for rebounds this season; however, witnessing the great form of Wilson, the Aces star would likely overtake her on the stat sheet.
Angel Reese expresses excitement and gratitude for SI cover feature
Angel Reese expressed her excitement about being featured as the cover star of the SI Power List issue. She shared the Sports Illustrated post and added the caption:
“COVERGIRL FOR @SInow I think YES! Thank you so much!!”
Since her debut back on May 15, the Sky rookie has grown into one of the most influential female basketball players on the planet.
Reese turned many heads in her rookie season, as she broke several records and set new ones.
She broke and set a new record for most rebounds collected in a single season. Although Las Vegas Aces star Wilson broke that record on Tuesday against the Seattle Storm, the Reese still holds the record for most consecutive double-doubles in a single season.
