The bond between siblings is often unparalleled, and a recent example of this comes from Chicago Sky forward and LSU icon Angel Reese, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her belief in her brother’s success at Maryland this season.
After a stellar rookie campaign with the Chicago Sky, Reese, the former Maryland and LSU All-American, predicted that her brother Julian Reese is set to have a special year at her former school.
“My brother is going to have a great year. i’m calling it now,” she said.

This is high praise coming from Angel Reese, who was a standout in this year’s WNBA season, averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds and finishing as the Rookie of the Year runner-up to the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark.
Looking at Angel Reese and Julian Reese’s college basketball careers
The Reese siblings were born in Maryland, and both began their college basketball journeys playing for the Terrapins. Angel spent two seasons in Maryland, where she averaged 15.3 points per game, before transferring to LSU in 2022.
Julian, who is one year younger than Angel Reese, will be entering his fourth year at Maryland this season. He is coming off his best campaign yet for the Terrapins, averaging 13.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game on 54.6% shooting.

Basketball has been a significant part of the Reese siblings’ lives since childhood. In an interview with What’sUp? Media from 2022 when Angel was 19, she reflected on growing up with her brother:
“Everything was always competitive with my younger brother. We had a basketball court in front of our house, and it was always very competitive and intense. We played all the time together. It helped shape me to who I am now.”
While Angel Reese is optimistic about her brother’s potential this year, she is also set for an offseason of development ahead of her sophomore year in the pros.
She earlier said she wanted to turn into a stretch forward in the WNBA.
“I haven’t even been able to tap into who I really am and my potential of being able to be that stretch 4 position, and just being able to be that,” she said in her ‘Unapologetically Angel’ podcast. “So, people also need to give that some grace too. I’m still a rookie; I’m still figuring it out.”
Julian Reese’s Maryland Terrapins will tip off their 2024-25 campaign on Nov. 4 at home in the XFINITY Centre, where they will take on the Manhattan Jaspers.
